18 December 2007 School run drivers 'pose threat to children'
Parents taking their children to school are driving in a dangerous manner which could result in some getting hurt, it has been claimed. The South Wales Evening Post reports that Danygraig Primary School head teacher Nigel Morgan believes the rogue motorists are becoming a real problem.
"We are not being difficult. We are doing it for the safety of the children - and the safety of the children is paramount," he commented.
If local police get involved, it may be that motorists pick up a motoring conviction which damages their car insurance policies.
This is because some cover firms may view their behaviour as risky.
"We have highlighted the problem in newsletters," said the head teacher.
This comes as NewsWales reports that a new initiative from Gwent Police will see officials appealing to the friends of young motorists who drive too fast.
The Deadly Mates campaign is looking to get the rogue drivers to slow down, it adds.
