07 December 2007 Changes to junction creates 'road danger'

A York roundabout has aggravated motorists. Residents in York have voiced their displeasure at the installation of a new roundabout in the region, it has been reported.

They believe the feature at Strensall Road and the outer ring of the A1237 is not reducing congestion like the council intended, York Press reports.

Instead, people may risking their car insurance policies as the road markings preceding the roundabout are confusing and could leave drivers in the wrong lane.

Local councillor Sian Wiseman said "it is not good at all and we would really like them to take it back".

But this has been contested by Huntingdon councillor Carol Runciman, who stated that the traffic measure "is an improvement".

Mrs Runciman recently spoke out in favour of plans to give 12,000 reflective tags to school children in an effort to make them more visible when crossing roads, the same news source has reported.
