07 December 2007 Extreme driving skills taught by new course
People can be shown how to drive in the most dangerous of conditions this winter as part of a new course which has been launched. The programme, which has been put together by Rockingham, teaches motorists the best ways of dealing with harsh environments such as an icy or wet landscape.
As a result, it may be that drivers save on their car insurance policies by avoiding accidents, as cover companies take such activity into account when working out premium prices.
Director of sales and marketing for Rockingham Charlotte Orton commented that drivers will be allowed to use their own automobiles for the scheme.
"We encourage the use of their own vehicle so in a real-life emergency they will know exactly what to do and how their car will react," she said.
The Highways Agency has announced that its officers will be available at the southbound section of Leicester Forest East motorway on Wednesday in order to speak to motorists about driving in the winter.
