03 December 2007 Christmas drink-drivers targeted in Wales
Those who drink-drive in Wales over the festive period will be among the most-wanted on police Christmas lists this year.According to the BBC, the country's officers will be implementing 24-hour checks on motorists in the region to cut road accidents.
It may be that a car insurance policy goes up in the wake of a road conviction, but South Wales Police Inspector Carwyn Evans stated that officials are "committed to enforcing the drink-drive laws rigorously".
The official told the BBC: "We are not out to spoil anyone's fun over Christmas, however, there remains to be a minority of people who still think they can get away with it."
According to the Department for Transport, motorists can pick up a 12-month ban from the road if they are caught driving while under the influence of alcohol.
In addition, they can receive a hefty fine and a criminal record.
