26 November 2007 M8 drivers experience 'extended rush hours'
Those driving on Scotland's busiest motorway may find that they are caught in traffic a lot more frequently.Research from Trafficmaster shows that rush hour conditions can be experienced at seven different times each day on the M8, the Scotland on Sunday reports.
It adds that between Edinburgh and Livingston the morning rush usually lasts from 07:02 to 09:13 GMT.
Such an increase in congestion may be down to an increase of cars in the road, which may also be responsible for a greater risk for those looking to keep car insurance policy prices low.
"The problem with the M8 is that there is no public transport alternative if people want to get to work and back home on time. We need extra road capacity on this route," said Neil Greig, director of IAM Motoring Group.
Glasgow residents have spoken out against M8 bosses after it was revealed that lights on the road have been continually kept on for over six months, the Glasgow Evening Times reports.
