16 November 2007 Road ban for YouTube speeder

Boy racer posted speeding for all to see. A boy racer who goaded other drivers into breaking the law over YouTube has received a ban from the road, it has been reported.

The Daily Mail has stated that Peter Ballinger of Cheltenham will not be able to get behind the wheel until he has retaken his test.

He was issued six licence points in addition to a fine of £140, it added, which may keep him from picking up a cheaper car insurance policy when he does get back on the road.

Mr Ballinger and two friends appeared in the internet clip challenging other motorists to drive as fast as they can down a busy road.

This comes despite numerous road safety campaigns led by the Department of Transport.

According to figures from the government body, there were 3,150 people killed on the roads over the course of 2006, although this is down from the 3,201 fatalities a year earlier.
