09 November 2007 Grants offered to young motorists in Somerset
Young drivers across one UK county may be given money in order to attain more experience on the roads, it has been reported.Somerset Road Safety Partnership is offering to pay £60 to new motorists towards the cost of a Pass Plus course, according to the Weston & Somerset Mercury.
The course, which usually costs £130, gives drivers the chance to take to the road in different scenarios such as poor weather in order to improve their skills.
People may also find that the extra classes help them receive a discount on a car insurance policy.
Inexperienced motorists are likely to crash a vehicle during their first year on the road, while one-third of all collisions will involve someone between the ages of 17 and 24.
Drivers in Glasgow may be aggrieved to learn that officials in the area are considering delaying a plan to reduce congestion until 2011.
