08 November 2007 Rogue driver crackdown begins in Suffolk
A clampdown on motorists breaking the law has begun in Suffolk, it has been reported. Some 200 complaints have been made to officials in the region over the past year about speeders on Commercial Road and Chancery Road, according to the Suffolk Evening Star.
Picking up a motoring conviction can result in a person being charged more for their car insurance policy in the future.
This is because some cover firms issue higher premiums to those they perceive to be a risk on the road.
"We know we have a problem with this area now and we will be back to carry out a lot more checks around here," commented acting Sergeant Paul Smith.
Figures from the Department for Transport show that some 3,150 road accidents took place in the UK in 2006.
This is down from the 3,201 recorded by the body in 2005.
