07 November 2007 Vehicle production up over October
The number of new vehicles being produced in the UK went up during the course of October, new statistics show. Some 166,168 units came out of factories last month, up on the 152,628 recorded in October 2006, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has stated.
In total, it added that this represents an 8.87 per cent rise compared to last year.
This could result in the number of car insurance premiums being purchased going up as 2007 progresses.
Scotland was the country with the biggest hike in vehicle production, with 14.8 per cent more being made against figures from 12 months earlier.
According to the SMMT's website, its aim is to represent the interests of Britain's motor industry in both the UK and abroad.
The group also tackles other issues, such as globalisation, retail distribution and the advancement of new technology within the sector.
