Drivers in the UK can receive free vehicle checks to make sure their cars are in good condition as winter begins.

ATS Euromaster stated that it is making this opportunity available as the cold weather usually manifests itself in a greater number of accidents.

The assessments will be available to any of the firm's 490 branches throughout the course of the season and may help drivers save money in the future.

This is because a motorist with a history of breakdowns may be assessed as a risk on the road by car insurance companies, which could put up premium costs as a result.

"The onset of winter also sees the number of road traffic accidents peak, as drivers struggle for grip on snow and ice-covered roads," commented group operations director Vince McGurk.

ATS Euromaster was initially established in 1961 and services a range of vehicles.
