05 November 2007 Worcestershire drivers warned over rural roads
Officials in Worcestershire have warned the region's motorists of the risks posed by rural roads in the area, according to a local news source. This means that motorists in Bromsgrove and Droitwich may be risking their wellbeing each time they use the countryside highways, the Bromsgrove Standard has reported.
In addition, their car insurance polices may also be at risk, with their no claims bonuses compromised in the event of a crash.
Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member of environment Derek Prodger stated that drivers need to be careful when using the roads.
He said: "We urge all those who use rural roads to make sure they take precautions to stop them being added to that list."
This warning comes as the Spalding Guardian has revealed the extent of danger on Lincolnshire roads.
It stated that 49 of the 63 deaths on highways in the region during 2006 occurred in non-urban areas.
