05 November 2007 Children team up with police against speeding drivers
Pupils at a primary school in Essex are sending a clear message to those who continue to break the speed limit in vehicles around the site. The Harlow Herald has reported that the children of Katherine's School have teamed up with local police in order to get people to think about their motoring.
Reducing speed could see drivers save lives as well as decrease the chance of invalidating their car insurance policies.
According to PC David Kealy, who operates as neighbourhood specialist officer for Katherines and Great Parndon, these motorists are posing a significant threat.
"If the driver is speeding their stopping distance is restricted which is just a recipe for disaster," said the officer.
Earlier this month the East Anglian Daily Times reported that speed and traffic cameras in Essex bring in close to £2 million in fines each year they are in operation.
