01 November 2007 Midlands officers in icy warning to motorists

Drivers should not leaving their running vehicle unattended Police officers in the Midlands have warned drivers of the dangers they can expect to encounter as the winter mornings close in, it has been reported.

The Coventry Telegraph has stated that officials are urging motorists to refrain from leaving their engines running unattended in order to de-ice their vehicles.

It "really is not worth the risk" of being victimised by thieves, according to Inspector Dean Young of Chace Avenue police station.

Drivers whose cars are stolen may find that they invalidate their car insurance policies, leading to higher claims in the future.

"It only takes a matter of seconds for a thief to jump into your vehicle and drive off," commented Inspector Young.

The same news source has also reported that motorists in the region are likely to be paying an average as high as 96.2 p for a litre of petrol.
