23 October 2007 Speeder at 122 mph "simply horrendous"

Officers clocked a driver at 122 mph A police officer has described the behaviour of a motorist caught travelling at more than twice the speed limit as "simply horrendous".

Chief Inspector Donald McMillan revealed that the driver was collared after being clocked doing 122 mph at 22:40 BST on Saturday October 20th in Falkirk.

Such activity could result in death, injury, or the invalidation of car insurance policies in the event of an accident.

Indeed, the local constabulary have found 750 motorists breaking the limit as part of their initiative against it which ended over the weekend.

But the officer has commented that officials will still be looking to catch out as many speeders as possible in the future.

He said: "We will continue to actively and rigorously pursue those motorists who flout the law in this way."

Speeding is one of the many factors contributing to the road deaths of 3,150 people reported by the Department for Transport.
