22 October 2007 Survey shows 'British roads are not fun'
A new survey has shown that people driving in the UK do not particularly enjoy using its roads.Satellite navigation device manufacturer Garmin has found that the Great British drive is not as well-received as trips along highways in the US and Australia.
For example, Route 66, known as the mother road of America, is possibly the most famous road in the world, stretching from Chicago to Los Angeles.
"In Britain, we're more likely to think of the M25 and the M6. It's hardly surprising that driving in Britain is regarded as more pain than pleasure," said spokesperson Claire Carter.
Some 26 per cent of drivers cited boring scenery as a bad point, while 84 per cent found endless traffic to be a problem.
Indeed, such features could end up playing a part in a car insurance claim should a motorist suffer an accident.
