19 October 2007 Female car insurers 'may not be cheapest for women'
Women on the road looking to take out car insurance may find that deals from traditional companies suit them more than gender-based firms, new research has suggested.According to findings from MoneyExpert.com, organisations which offer cover based on a person's gender may not necessarily be the best on the market.
Website chief executive Sean Gardner stated that those who look to such deals may be causing themselves to miss out on "some of the best value policies on offer".
He added: "Women looking to take out car insurance should focus on product details and pricing first rather than the insurer's customer base."
The research follows similar findings from price comparison website uSwitch.com, which claimed that it is usually the case that women pick up better car insurance policies than men.
A spokesman commented in the Mail on Sunday that females were often considered more proficient motorists.
