15 October 2007 'Abused cyclists' look for more road space

Cyclists are campaigning to win drivers' respect Motorists are abusing cyclists on the road, leading the victims to revolt in protest, it has been reported.

Bike riders in Aberystwyth have begun campaigning for more cycle lanes in order to keep themselves separated from other vehicles on highways, according to the BBC.

The Beic Grwp (Bike Group) stated that the behaviour of some car drivers was enough to cause serious harm.

Body spokesman Kelvin Mason commented: "A number of drivers deliberately drove in a way that not only frightened and intimidated cyclists but put us at real risk of serious injury."

It may also be that drivers involved find their car insurance policies compromised if they are to be involved in a collision.

According to the organisation's website, the Beic Grwp would like to see diagonal parking spaces installed on streets, in addition to the in-town speed limit around the UK being reduced to ten miles per hour.
