27 September 2007 Wrexham police warn motorists to remove valuables
Those looking to avoid being the target of thieves in Wales should remove or keep well-hidden items of value in their cars, an official has commented.According to the Evening Leader, Detective Sergeant Eleri Deverell has told motorists that it may be best to take valuables with them when they leave their vehicles.
The officer made the remark after a number of recent break-ins which took place in the Penley area of the city.
Such activity can see people lose their car insurance no-claims bonus or be forced to pay expensive repair bills to make their car roadworthy again.
Sergeant Deverell stated: "People need to make sure they don't leave anything of value in the vehicles and don't leave anything in view."
Meanwhile, statistics from the Home Office show that there were some 1.7 million vehicle-related thefts in the UK from 2005 to 2006.
