24 September 2007 Sales of used vehicles 'stay hot over summer season'
The number of used vehicles being sold over the summer season started and ended strongly, it has been reported.Sales of previously-owned cars and vans were "well ahead" of figures from 2006, British Car Auctions (BCA) has commented.
In addition, the average price a part-exchange vehicle attracted from consumers was up to just under £3,250.
According to BCA sales director Mark Hankey, figures "held up well".
He said: "The best vehicles continued to be sought after and attract good prices relative to their condition, specification and mileage."
This comes after the BCA reported that 4x4 vehicles sales were also performing well, despite the threat of extra taxation due to their environmental impact.
Similarly, those driving such cars may also find that their car insurance premiums are higher, as a number of cover companies are now offering discounts to motorists who show their green credentials.
