19 September 2007 Annual holiday cover 'becoming more popular'

Holiday insurance 'more popular annually' The number of people taking short breaks throughout the year has led to an increase in annual travel insurance sales, according to a high street bank.

Halifax has stated that those who leave the UK on a regular basis may find it a "more feasible" option to take out 12 months-worth of cover rather than a deal which lasts the duration of a trip.

Increasingly cheaper flights from airlines are a primary factor in the greater frequency with which consumers travel, stated spokesperson David Bruce.

He remarked: "More and more people are taking more than the traditional one summer holiday a year so it makes more sense to have annual cover."

Meanwhile, the Association of British Insurers has commented that a typical travel insurance policy will usually comprise medical cover in addition to protection against the theft of valuables.

In addition, some quotes may include safeguards against any inconvenience caused by delayed flights.
