18 September 2007 Police net 50 in rogue driver clampdown

Rogue drivers caught in Sutton-On-The-Forest. A two-hour initiative in Sutton-On-The-Forest saw 50 motorists caught for breaking the speed limit, it has been reported.

York Press has stated that Operation Siren came into effect after a number of reports claiming that drivers were speeding when entering the village.

Indeed, the news source added that people were found to be entering the village at an average speed of 46 mph - ahead of the 30 mph limit for the area.

Motorists may also face car insurance penalties if they are perceived to be a risk on the road.

Those who are caught in the act can face a £60 fine and three-point licence addition, although they can choose to take a 20-minute driver education class in order to see for themselves the dangers of behaving badly behind the wheel.

People should keep in mind that the national speed limit for a built-up area is 30 mph.
