13 September 2007 Fine warning issued to rogue parkers

Parkers in Peterborough who stop at illegal spots around the city have been warned that their actions carry serious consequences.

Cash point areas in the Fletton High Street and Lawson Avenue parts of Stanground are particularly prone to the activity, according to Cambridgeshire Police.

Those parking at buses stops or on double yellow lines may also find themselves in a spot of bother with officials which could damage their car insurance policies.

Insurers may deem a motoring conviction indicative of a larger threat posed by the driver on the road.

Such actions can carry serious consequences, said local PCSO Stuart Smith.

"A £30 fixed penalty notice will be issued and if a vehicle is causing an obstruction to a pedestrian crossing it could mean a fine of £60 and three penalty points on your driving licence," he commented.

Meanwhile, a local woman was taken to hospital after a foot injury sustained after a collision with a car in Wisbech.
