10 September 2007 Scheme pulls up more than 50 dangerous drivers
An initiative to crack down on dangerous drivers in Peterborough has seen more than 50 motorists caught out by police, it has been reported.According to the Peterborough Evening Telegraph, eight £60 fines were issued by officers in addition to three-point licence penalties to people collared in the Ramsey, Warboys, Bury and Somerham parts of the city.
A further five motorists will go to court for breaking the 30 mph speed limit while one drunk-driver was reprimanded and may face jail or a large fine.
In addition, officials were keeping an eye out for drivers without full licensing, but a lack of road tax and car insurance can also see motorists face trouble.
In 2006, the Department for Transport has revealed that there were 3,150 fatalities on the roads.
