06 September 2007 Sales of vans go up over wet weather period

This summer's wet weather did not negatively impact upon the sales of commercial vehicles in the UK, it has been stated.

Demand for vans and trucks over the period remained strong, with particularly high performances coming from Citroen and Peugeot, according to figures from EurotaxGlass.

The C2 Enterprise and Dispatch models from Citroen saw strong sales, as did the Expert from Peugeot, statistics indicated.

As a result, the van insurance sector may expect a busy autumn, although George Alexander, chief commercial vehicle editor at the company, commented that used vehicle prices may drop.

"The improvement in sales activity is unlikely to have any lasting effect on values, as used prices for nearly all popular commercial vehicles were already pushing hard on the ceiling imposed by discounted prices on new," he said.

For a number of residents in the south of England, heavy rainfall over the summer saw them claiming on their home insurance policies due to flooding.
