03 September 2007 Campaign aims to target rude drivers
Inconsiderate road users have been targeted as part of an initiative from Sussex Police, it has been reported. The constabulary has announced that its Operation Crackdown will attempt reduce the number of abandoned vehicles on the road while also targeting bad drivers.
Anti-social driving is top of the list of problems the force would like to eliminate, including speeding, reckless motoring and drink-driving as part of this.
Such acts can be dangerous and may compromise a car insurance policy, with police telling motorists to pull over safely, write down details and report any unfit motorist they spot.
"We know there are problems in parts of Sussex. With your help we can tackle the inconsiderate people who continue to drive in an anti-social manner or abandon their end-of-life vehicles," Sussex Police told local residents.
In a survey from Surrey Police last year, 39 per cent of residents in the area named speeding as the most problematic issue for them on the road.
