20 August 2007 Brits to pay £759 million in holiday extras
People paying with plastic during their holiday this year should be careful to avoid receiving high charges for using their cards abroad, new research has indicated.According to consumer website uSwitch.com, the £16.4 million spent by Britons abroad will result in an extra bill of £759 million.
Such costs may be difficult to pay off in addition to spending money, accommodation and the price of travel insurance.
Paying for a holiday can be difficult enough with incurring extra charges, commented the site's personal finance expert Mike Naylor.
He said: "It is possible for consumers to reduce the amount they will pay in fees, or avoid paying them altogether, if they take a little time to research the credit card market before going away and make sure that they are packing the right plastic."
Those looking to go on holiday this August may want to spend wisely in order to avoid a costly September.
