15 August 2007 ABI warns travellers to check insurance small print
Travel insurance customers should check the small print of their policies before they agree to them, a top industry body has claimed.A number of deals may not stretch to cover more unusual pursuits such as extreme sports like white water rafting or bungee jumping, the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has warned.
Therefore, people need to examine the fine print of their documentation very carefully before going ahead and putting pen to paper.
"Many policies will ... have an exclusion on dangerous sports and that's why you need to think very carefully before you go exactly what it is you're going to be involved in when you're travelling," said ABI spokesperson Malcolm Tarling.
Next month, the ABI will host its Climate Change Conference, which will address how the industry plans to adapt in the face of environmental issues.
The Prince of Wales will deliver a speech at the event.
