09 August 2007 Those without travel insurance 'run risk'
A number of British holidaymakers are taking a risk by going abroad without travel insurance, it has been claimed.Research from moneysupermaket.com has found that one in five leaves the UK without appropriate cover, while one in ten does this intentionally.
It added that men are particularly bad for this - with 12 per cent admitting that they purposely do not look for protection.
And Richard Mason, director of insurance at the consumer site, commented that taking out cover is far from many people's thoughts when they go away.
"While holidaymakers might think nothing will happen to them while they are away, travel insurance is vital for claiming on cancellations, lost cash, public liability and providing emergency medical treatment," he said.
Meanwhile, Kevin McAdam, head of travel at the Post Office, has called the amount of people travelling without insurance "alarming", according to the Telegraph.
