03 August 2007 'More traffic wardens needed' in Aspatria
Councillors in a town in Cumberland would like to see more traffic wardens on the streets, it has been reported.According to Cumberland News, the Aspatria officials believe that there are not enough tickets being issued to those who are parking erratically - often on the pavement.
They added that the bad manoeuvring was casuing people with pushchairs to step into the road, while it may be that innocent drivers would have their car insurance policies compromised if they were to crash into a vehicle reversing unseen from a sidewalk.
Marie Rose commented that this is being caused by motorists being lazy - something that could be remedied by stronger road policing.
"We don't often get wardens in Aspatria," she said.
Meanwhile, disabled drivers in Woodley, Reading are missing out on disabled spaces, according to the Reading Evening Post.
This is because some motorists without disabled passengers are parking in specially-allocated spaces near a shopping centre, it suggested.
