03 August 2007 Curfew for young drivers with passengers
Young and inexperienced drivers may not be able to take their friends for a night time spin in the future if new government measures are put in place.A report has recommended that drivers under the age of 19 be restricted from carrying passengers between the hours of 23:00 and 01:00.
The Guardian has claimed that this is because one in every two drivers killed at night is under 25.
And it may be that the limitation is a blessing in disguise for young motorists for more than just the obvious reasons.
If road safety incidents within the demographic were to drop, people on the road could be required to pay lower car insurance premiums in the future.
This news comes after a report earlier in the week suggested that eastern European drivers were responsible for around 15 per cent of crashes.
As a result, young Polish males have been classified as a high risk road group by officials in North Yorkshire.
