02 August 2007 Eastern European immigrants 'behind portion of accidents'

People who have moved to the UK from other countries are responsible for a large amount of accidents on rural roads in the UK, it has been claimed.

According to the Daily Mail, young Polish men are a particularly high risk and are classified as one of the three most dangerous groups of motorists in Yorkshire.

This means that people who fit this bill may find it difficult to pick up a cheap car insurance deal.

And North Yorkshire council executive for community safety John Fort commented that the trend was "becoming quite a serious problem with immigrant drivers".

"They tend to pile a lot of people into one car, drive too fast, go round roundabouts the wrong way and often indulge in drink-driving," he said.

Meanwhile, a survey published by Gazeta Wyborcza has showed that 55 per cent of Polish people in the UK plan to stay, according to Reuters.
