13 July 2007 Women drivers 'are ruder than men'
Female motorists are ruder and more aggressive than their male counterparts, according to a new survey.Research by BMW found that the stereotype of women being more passive than men while behind the wheel was not actually true, reports the Sun.
The study showed that women drivers hurled more insults at other motorists and were more likely to call other road users "idiots".
Furthermore, females were shown to be the least likely to apologise for their actions.
Men also tended to make more polite gestures than women, such as in cases where another driver allowed them into a line of traffic.
This follows a recent study which found that male motorists often drive with one hand because they feel like part of the vehicle.
Research by the University of East London also found that women tended to see a car as a separate entity, therefore making them grip the steering wheel with two hands.
