06 July 2007 New website attempts to shop dangerous drivers
A new website has been set up in order to expose the UK's most dangerous drivers.Visitors to BetterDrivingPlease.com can report motorists they have spotted behaving badly on the roads, over 2,000 people across the nation already having done so.
The internet portal was set up by road safety campaigner Andrew McGavin and, while it may not directly see drivers save on their car insurance policies, it could help them work out areas to avoid.
Mr McGavin defined the website experience as one in which motorists can finally shop the "total idiot" on the road.
"Now you can do something about it by reporting that person yourself," he said.
Meanwhile, the York Press has reported that a new police initiative has been established to make local roads safer.
Operation Capable was launched this week and will see officers blitz York and North Yorkshire roads until the end of 2007.
