27 June 2007 Travel insurance cost 'can be hidden'
Travel insurance cost "can be hidden"The true value of a travel insurance package may be too wrapped up in the cost of a holiday in order to be appreciated, it has been claimed.
According to swiftcover.com, people may choose to take out travel insurance at the last minute or by paying for it as part of a bundled holiday deal.
However, the consumer site has stated that quotes are available online "within second" and that travellers should scour the market for thorough but bargain packages before deciding on which one to take.
"Shopping around for your travel insurance ensures you receive the most competitive quote from a Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulated insurance provider and can save the average family up to £90," said Craig Staniland, director of underwriting at the firm.
This news comes as the FSA has revealed it is to regulate the industry in order to make sure people are not under-protected or overcharged.
The body's main office can be found in Canary Wharf.
