08 June 2007 Online video 'helps motorists replace brakes'
A six minute video showing drivers how to replace their brake discs and pads has been put online by a mail order parts company, it has been reported.According to Easier, Car Parts Direct has uploaded the footage in order to show people how simple it is to complete the operation.
The company claimed that drivers can save 68 per cent on costs by buying and fitting their own brakes - saving money that can be set aside for road tax and car insurance, it added.
And Mark Cornwall at Car Parts Direct claimed that the job was "hardly rocket science".
"Replacing brakes is a really easy job on most vehicles. It's certainly not the kind of job motorists should be paying a dealer over £100 an hour [to do]," he said.
Earlier this week, the company issued a warning to drivers on European roads - stating that a GB sticker can stop them from picking up an on-the-spot fine, Easier reported.
