07 June 2007 Switching currency online 'could save travellers'
Ordering currency for a trip to the US via the internet may end up saving people money and giving them more to spend on their trip, it has been claimed.Research from consumer site Peopleschampion.com has found that that people who do this could save as much as $26 (£13) on each £1,000 they change.
Cheaper currency conversion could come as an added bonus for those already left stretched by flight costs, accommodation prices and travel insurance.
And chairman of Peopleschampion.com Jim Spowart claimed that this was a better idea than using a bank.
"Traditionally, consumers have gone to their high street bank or the post office for their foreign currency, but you can save significant amounts if you book online with peopleschampion.com." he said.
With the university term coming to an end for another year, students may be looking to make the most of their time away from the books by travelling.
They are reminded to pick up thorough travel insurance - enough to cover any potential scenario.
