04 June 2007 Appeal issued for new centre for pets
An animal welfare charity is to attempt fund-raising initiatives in order to pay for its new centre, it has been reported.According to the BBC, the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) is looking to raise £700,000 in order to help finance the Highlands site.
Pet insurance customers looking for somewhere to take their ill animal may be interested to know that the organisation handled over 600 unwanted pets in the last year,
And marketing boss Michelle Feenie told the news source that the premises are needed due to a higher number of discarded or maltreated pets.
"We must consider that the need has arisen due to the high numbers of neglected, abused and unwanted animals that need to be cared for in the north," she said.
Meanwhile, CCNMatthews has reported that the Canadian government will not investigate the poison pet food scandal that has left many families in the country without their animals.
