01 June 2007 Holidaymakers 'should be wary of costs'
Britons heading on holiday this year should make sure costs do not spiral out of control, it has been claimed.According to CreditExpert.co.uk, 27 per cent of holidaymakers pay for their vacations - including flights, accommodation and travel insurance - with credit.
The company added that six per cent of people have admitted to going into the red each time they pay for time away from home.
However, this does not seem to bother 18 per cent of travellers, who claims that debt is merely an afterthought for them.
"Most of us work hard and need a well-earned break, but it’s important that we plan ahead and ensure our bank balance can handle the large outgoings that holidays and other expenses entail," said Jim Hodgkins, managing director of CreditExpert.co.uk.
With the summer approaching, it may be that people in the UK are looking to secure a last minute deal on a holiday.
If this is the case, they should seriously consider taking out comprehensive travel insurance.
