14 May 2007 Highways Agency launches new road safety scheme
A new road safety initiative has been launched by the Highways Agency in order to alert young drivers to the consequences of irresponsible road behaviour.Throwing it all Away is a new scheme designed to make motorists aware of the impact that discarding objects from their car and onto the road can have on other drivers.
The educational pack distributed to schools, youth and community projects, contains a CD-rom in order to aid learning among students aged 14-16 years.
In years to come, it may be that the information they receive reduces their car insurance policy.
"This pack will help teachers and leaders of safety organisations to build awareness of young people of the consequences of their actions," said Ian Mills, Highways Agency project sponsor.
Over the weekend, the Agency closed part of the A21 near Tonbridge for resurfacing work between Upper Haysden Lane Bridge and Vauxhall Lane.
