04 May 2007 Shropshire village 'sick of speeders'

With the weekend approaching, it may be that drivers in a Shropshire village stay indoors to avoid risking their car insurance policy.

This is because speeders travelling at over 80 mph are running through the town recklessly from the A58 Bridgnorth to Shrewsbury motorway, according to the Shropshire Star.

It added that while the situation has been improving recently, according to local councillor Charles Armstrong, there are still motorists risking lives by ignoring the law.

"You still get the occasional idiot," he said.

Mr Armstrong claimed that police in the area could provide more help in order to conquer the speed demons.

"We would like to see a bit more enforcement from the traffic sector," the official added.

Meanwhile, television personality Chris Tarrant has been banned from driving for six months and fined over £700 for speeding offences.

The presenter, 60, may have to phone a friend in future - for a lift.
