25 April 2007 Ellesmere unveils £250,000 road safety scheme
The protection of schoolchildren, pedestrians and drivers is on the agenda for a new road safety scheme in Ellesmere, it has been reported.Trimpley Street will be redeveloped by Shropshire County Council as part of a £250,000 project, according to the Shropshire Star.
It added that the road will be widened and resurfacing work will commence, easing the problems the narrow street can have for motorists.
This news may come as a relief to local car insurance customers who may have had accidents in the area, although they may be aggrieved at plans under consideration that would see a new give-way system enforced.
Ed Manning, manager of the nearby medical practiced, also claimed that car park renovations could be carried out.
Last month, General Motors gave the local economy a boost when the body that production of its new Astra will go ahead at the Ellesmere Port Vauxhall plant.
