23 April 2007 Government 'needs to cut young road deaths'
The government has been urged to act out against the number of young people dying on UK roads, it has been reported.According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), officials need to actively try to cut down the prevalence of road accidents recorded among young people.
In addition to restrictions on the number of people a novice driver can carry, the body would like to see an improved programme of learning in order to make sure drivers are fully equipped for when they take to the road.
Such an effort could have an effect on car insurance prices if successful.
"Too many young drivers are ill-equipped for the dangers of driving," claimed ABI director general Stephen Haddrill.
A report from Comet 24 recently found that young drivers in Hertfordshire will be under scrutiny from the local constabulary.
Police will be monitoring The Lakes - a region in Biggleswade known as a racing area for motorists.
