17 April 2007 Illegal parking 'sting' warnings issued
People visiting the Lake District have been warned of the threat of being stung for parking illegally, it has been reported. This comes as the North West Evening Mail has stated that one car park in the region saw 105 tickets given out over the Easter weekend.
Some 84 of the problematic parkers were penalised for parking outside of the allocated markings, it added.
But some car insurance customers may be relieved to hear that an Allerdale council spokesperson has commented that a person who feels they were unjustly given a ticket can appeal against the decision.
"If people feel they have been given tickets wrongly then there is an appeals procedure," she said.
Drivers looking for a day out over the Easter period may have experienced another difficulty - the weather.
The Press Association has reported that drivers were stuck in traffic on Easter Sunday - the hottest day of the year in some parts of the UK - due to unfinished road works.
