More than half of the drivers on Britain's roads distrust the motor industry, it has been claimed.Market research firm Maritz has stated that over 50 per cent of people responded to their survey that they believed mechanics untrustworthy, according to Motor Trader.
Furthermore, 21 per cent answered that they would not recommend their own dealer to other people, it added.
And with vehicle maintenance an important matter for drivers - particularly in regards to car insurance - Joerg Hoehner of the company has claimed dealers should do more to put customers' minds at ease.
"The industry must take it a step further to focus on all points of customer service, from sales to maintenance," he said.
Meanwhile, research from Sainsbury's Bank revealed that people are choosing not to haggle with dealers when it comes to buying a car - costing an average of £1,500 per sale.
