27 March 2007 Motorists in a spin over roundabouts
Car insurance customers may be able to relate to - or be completely baffled by - motorists in the Isle of Man who reportedly do not know how to use a roundabout. The Isle of Man Today has reported that the island's director of highways, Bruce Hannay, has said that local people do not know how to use the road obstructions correctly.
Quarter Bridge spells double trouble for drivers, with twin mini roundabouts causing confusion behind the wheel, it added.
While consultants are looking into ways of how to improve awareness and alleviate motorists' concerns, Mr Hannay has reminded them how to approach a roundabout.
"You must slow down and give way to traffic on your right and give way to traffic already on the roundabout," he said.
A recent survey has linked computer driving games to dangerous activity on the road.
BSM has found that those who partake in a gaming session before taking to the road were more likely to take unnecessary risks.
