The amount of burglaries occurring in an area of Preston has dropped in the face of a police crackdown, it has been reported.

Operation Darkness saw police in the area implement high visibility officiating, the targeting of known criminals and improved leaflet drop programmes and neighbourhood watch schemes, according to the Lancashire Evening Post.

And, whereas break-ins in Grange once happened on a weekly average basis, the constabulary has noted a large drop - with Sergeant Tony Murphy hailing it a "huge success".
