21 March 2007 CLA: Government should tax agro-4x4s separately
Farmers who use 4x4 vehicles should not be caught in any tax rise announced in today's Budget. Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Farming Today programme, David Fursdon - president of the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) - said that he feels there is a difference between drivers who use 4x4s as car and those who need to use them professionally.
"It is a question of definition. At the moment I haven't seen any satisfactory definition to be able to draw a line between the two," he added.
The CLA states that it is the "premier organisation" in protecting rural workers based in England and Wales.
In other 4x4 news this month, it was reported that the Association of British Insurers' (ABI) new car insurance rating system could impact on four-wheel drive vehicles.
