20 March 2007 Think about garden security, say police
Homeowners in the North Cotswolds have been warned that they may be at risk from burglary as the evenings begin to get lighter during spring. The local police force has claimed that people's houses are at risk of being attacked, with criminals looking to exploit the changing of the seasons, according to the Cotswold Journal.
To cover themselves in the event of a burglary, people could consider extending their home insurance to cover areas of the garden such as the shed and garden furniture.
"Shed owners should make them more secure by investing in metal grilles for windows, reinforced hinges and strong locks and shed alarms," said acting sergeant and the Cotswolds' crime reduction officer, Mark Godsland.
Meanwhile, the same news source is reporting that a teenager in the area has been charged with stealing seven rabbits from their hutches.
The 17-year-old will appear before magistrates in Leamington in the coming weeks.
