15 March 2007 St Albans drivers to be 'hit by delays'
Car insurance customers in the Hertfordshire area may have long diversions and delays in store for them this week.On Sunday, Bricket Road in St Albans will be closed for resurfacing, according to the Hertfordshire Advertiser.
This comes in addition to the ten-week city centre closure of Chequer Street and St Peter's Street, in place since January.
Similarly, part of Marshalswick Lane, a component of the city's unofficial ring road, was closed to drivers on Monday and will be followed by similar blockages over the next two weeks.
And while Herts Highway has put in place a free shuttle bus service around the Marshalwick Estate, it is due to end tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the same news source reported last week that car parking charges in St Albans were due to increase by 25 per cent.
"It is not just shoppers who will suffer but any increase will also hit people working in the city," said the area's chamber of commerce chairman, Sandra Oldfield.
