01 March 2007 Men 'prefer racing to most other things'
Male drivers would prefer to race around a track than spend time with their partner, a sentiment some car insurance customers might be able to relate to.A study of 1,000 male drivers by television channel Discovery Turbo found that 44 per cent of respondents would sooner go for a drive with their favourite tracks playing on the car stereo rather than take their other half for a night out.
Some 73 per cent admitted that they argue with their wife or girlfriend when on the road, the channel added.
Furthermore, 95 per cent of the men commented that driving gave them time to themselves - something a spokesman for the company claimed was good for their health.
"Men say traveling alone in their car is their ultimate escape from the stresses of life and they will fight tooth and nail to prevent this freedom being taken away," said the representative.
Last month, Insurancewide.com commented that men hold more driving convictions than women - and so can expect higher car insurance premiums.
